La Galway Simon Community è una comunità che supporta persone che non hanno una dimora o che rischiano di rimanere senza casa. Con sede nella città di Galway, agisce nella zona Ovest dell’Irlanda.

Le attività svolte nella comunità sono finalizzate al miglioramento della qualità di vita di queste persone a rischio, offrendo loro un supporto completo e la possibilità di avere un posto che loro possono chiamare “casa”. Questa comunità ha una forte rete di volontari, che rappresentano il nucleo principale del lavoro svolto al suo interno, insieme allo staff di riferimento.

L’organizzazione cerca nuovi volontari ESC per partenza 2 ottobre 2026 per la durata tra (un minimo di) 10 e (preferibilmente) 12 mesi.

ATTIVITA’ DEL VOLONTARIO

Attraverso l’interazione con i residenti e “service users”, i volontari potranno acquisire una comprensione più profonda del tema dei senzatetto. Lavoreranno insieme allo staff per fornire assistenza e supporto ai residenti e utenti vulnerabili, lavorando 35 ore alla settimana, spesso a turni, che qualche volta potrebbe includere un turno di notte.

I volontari europei aiuteranno i residenti con le loro attività giornaliere come cucinare e pulire, proponendo attività ricreative, interagendo con i residenti in diversi modi: andare al cinema, accompagnarli agli appuntamenti medici, qualche volta con l’uso del furgone , partecipare all’ “social enterprise coffee”.

I volontari avranno l’opportunità di creare le proprie attività in base alle proprie competenze e interessi. Questo ruolo è formativo e i volontari potranno sviluppare e praticare attività e relazioni di aiuto con la guida di un team di personale altamente qualificato.

REQUISITI

• età compresa tra 20 e 30 anni
• interesse per attività sociali volte al miglioramento della comunità e alla prevenzione del disagio sociale
• forte motivazione per il lavoro con soggetti vulnerabili
• capacità di lavorare come parte di un team
• conoscenza buona della lingua inglese
